Hungarian rock legend: time of cheap Russian gas is over, saving is vital
Feró Nagy is a famous Hungarian rock singer and musician, nicknamed “the roach of the nation”. He is a great Fidesz and government supporter. For example, Feró regularly attends the prime minister’s year assessments. Now, he shared his thoughts about the end of the era of cheap Russian energy and how he would save gas, energy, and electricity in the future.
Everybody has to save energy
After the Russian invasion of Ukraine started and it became clear that Russia may stop transferring gas to Europe as a counterreaction to the Western sanction, Germany was the first to conclude that citizens should save energy and gas to maintain a functioning economy despite irregularities in gas delivery. The Hungarian government and their supporters laughed at the relevant German ideas and said that Hungarians should not have followed them since Hungary always had enough energy.
Now it seems that things have changed in this respect. As we wrote, the Hungarian government would like to find alternative energy sources since Russian gas will soon become even more expensive. And, of course, they made it clear that people must decrease their energy and gas consumption.
Probably that is why Metropol, a government-close media outlet, shared an interview with the famous rock singer and frontman of Beatrice, Feró Nagy, on Friday. In the interview, the “roach of the nation” talked about how he would save energy in the coming months.
It is a Hungarian interest to save energy
He said that it would serve both Hungarian and global interests to save energy not only because it was expensive but also for taking the environment into account. Wasting leads nowhere, and it is beneficial for humanity if we save energy.
“I think the world will change fundamentally. I am sure I will go below our last year’s consumption. I have already assessed which rooms I will heat and which ones I will not”, he revealed. He added that we could use the cheap Russian gas until now, so the issue of heating did not give a headache to anyone. “But now we have to learn how to save energy”, he highlighted.
Only rock does not need energy saving
“I think it does not harm if people think this issue through a bit. We cannot joke with energy, water, and electricity. It is high time to learn that everybody should turn off the light if they leave the bath”, he said.
The 76-year-old rock legend considers revamping his house. “I am planning now where to place automatic lights. If I enter the room, the light switches on. If I leave, it turns off. That’s all. Of course, this is different from rock music. I do that with full energy” – the frontman of the famous Beatrice band said, laughing.
