Hungarians most optimistic about economy since 2014
Hungarians were more optimistic about the economy at the end of 2017 than at any point before during the current government term which started in 2014, daily Magyar IdÅ‘k said on Saturday, citing a survey commissioned by the paper and conducted by NézÅ‘pont Institute.Â
Twice as many Hungarians said they were satisfied with the economic condition of the country than those who said they were dissatisfied, the survey shows.
In 2014, some 29 percent of respondents said they were happy with Hungary’s economic condition.
The same ratio stood at 43 percent in 2015, at 51 percent in 2016 and at 60 percent at the end of last year. This shows that Hungarians appreciate the government’s economic policy and that indicators of strong macroeconomic performance have been recognised by society, the paper said.
People were also asked each year about their projections for the Hungarian economy in 2018. At the beginning of the government term, in 2014, only 34 percent said indicators would be strong in 2018. The ratio rose to 53 percent in 2015, 54 percent in 2016 and 62 percent in 2017, Magyar Idők said.
