Hungarians reject illegal migrants across all party affiliations – Survey
Budapest (MTI) – The majority of Hungarians reject illegal migrants regardless of party affiliation, a survey carried out by Nezopont on commission from weekly Heti Valasz between June 19 and 25 showed.
The representative survey was conducted by phoning 1,000 people and 76 percent of them said that illegal migrants posed a problem for Hungary, Nezopont said on Wednesday. Even among the supporters of left-wing parties nearly 60 percent said illegal migration was a problem.
At the same time, more than 50 percent of those interviewed said they would take in ethnic Hungarians from abroad, the persecuted and those arriving legally. However, 57 percent said they rejected economic migrants and 73 percent rejected illegal migrants.
Fully 63 percent said that increased migration posed a security risk for Hungary.
