Hungary fined for EUR 300 million for violating EU legislations – UPDATE: government reaction
The Court of Justice of the European Union has fined Hungary for 200 million euros for not respecting EU legislations, including those of international asylum and on returning illegal immigrants to their home countries, the CJEU said on Thursday.
Further, the CJEU obliged Hungary to pay a penalty of one million euros for every day of delay in complying with a ruling issued in December 2022, on the country’s breach of the guidelines on asylum and returning immigrants.
UPDATE: Gulyás: CJEU ruling ‘outrageous, unfair and unacceptable’
Gergely Gulyás, the head of the Prime Minister’s Office, called the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union to fine Hungary 200 million euros for not complying with EU legislations on asylum and on returning illegal immigrants to their home countries “outrageous, unfair and unacceptable”.
The minister told a regular press briefing on Thursday the ruling contradicted European Union law, was incompatible with Hungary’s constitution and penalised the country which had rejected illegal migration from the beginning, protecting its own and Europe’s external borders.
This ruling “could never have been passed by a normal court,” he added.
Gulyás pointed out that the decision extended beyond the claim. The European Commission requested a condemnation of 7 million euros and a daily fine of 6 million euros until compliance, whereas the court ordered Hungary to pay a lump sum of 200 million euros and a daily fine of 1 million euros, that is seventy times the fine originally requested.
The ruling goes completely against everything we think about European law, the Hungarian constitution, the protection of external borders and effective action against migration, Gulyás said.

Besides stealing everything it can Fidesz finds other ways it can to make Hungarians poorer. Quit being a member of the EU if you can’t comply with the common set of rules for member states. Orban and the others will now cry about how the Court of Justice is doing this to Hungary but Fidesz has done this to Hungary with its’ behaviour and they welcome the ruling for use in propaganda purposes to create a victim mentality. Vote again for Fidesz in 2026 if you like being poorer.
Orban is a dead end trash and a paper tiger.
The whole nation is going to feel the consequences of the last 14 years of non-democratic values, severe xenophobia and the lame excuses of illegal immigration.
Teachers and doctors never got a raise after the elections of 2022, nevertheless the mafia state bought back the airport in a deal of 3.1 billion euros plus the debt.
so many soros-bitches here, aint it Larry and Anonymouse?
The EU and it’s court is illegitimate as we have not elected them.
Same goes for European Commission.
Hungarian constitution stands above the EU-laws as the EU is a collection of sovereign countries.
Seems like the nazi-eu-leaders don’t understand that and are trying to coup Europe.
Hungary should leave the EU. Hungary has a bright future only if it continues to reject socialism and the decay always caused by the Left. The EU and EPP are leftist cancer. Long live a free and Christian Hungary!
RIGHTFUL decision again.
Orban, the Fidesz Party, they have been REBELLIOUS – MUTINOUS over the 14 plus years of there POWER as the Government of Hungary.
It’s ALL on record, there History, that through there attitude, driven by repetitive acts of non-conforming – to the Laws of being, a Member of the European Union.
Hungary – we SUFFER on that in our millions remain the INNOCENT of a Government, driven by a Prime Minister – Victor Orban, his determination – his “Zeal” in the Distillation of Democracy in Hungary, the DESTROYER of our Membership, the Respect we once had given paid to us as a country, being of European Union Membership.
Orban, the Fidesz Party, there labelling expressing – “this ruling could NEVER have been passed in a normal court” – Insulting – Defaming again on the European Union.
We know – Hungary knows, as does the E.U. and Europe, all country’s Governed as Democracy’s – the FACT – of the Orban – Fidesz Governments – there control – there POWER of Manipulation they enforce – over the Judiciary in Hungary ?
Is the Judiciary system in Hungary – is its FUNCTIONALITY a normal court ???
This rightful decision handed down by the Court of Justice of the European Union – the “satisfying” – the servicing of this DEBT – another GARGANTUAN problem, for Orban, and his Fidesz Government.
Hungarians – we in millions, paying the on-going HEFTY price, for the ABUSE, the Disrespect – the non-compliance of the Orban – Fidesz Government to-wards the European Union – it’s LAWS.
Hungary, this Orban led Fidesz Government, the finalization of there “Curriculum Vitae” come sooner than later, for us individually and as a country, there AGGRESSION that continues directed at the European Union, the WRATH, still to come, to be DEALT on and against, the Orban – Fidesz Government will be CATASROPHIC.
Hungary – we have been FAILED.
“The principle of the primacy (also referred to as ‘precedence’ or ‘supremacy’) of European Union (EU) law is based on the idea that where a conflict arises between an aspect of EU law and an aspect of law in an EU Member State (national law), EU law will prevail. ”
“As the Member States transferred certain powers to the EU, they limited their sovereign rights, and thus in order for EU norms to be effective they must take precedence over any provision of national law, including constitutions.”

EU court ruling is correct.
There are legal ways to handle asylym seekers. Hungary shoud respect that and follow the EU laws that its has agreed to obey.
Just tell the court to go to hell. No uneducated dirty lazy criminal illegal aliens belong in Hungary. People can apply to legally enter the country. No reasonable court should support lawlessness. Because the decision is based on support of lawlessness, the ruling is illegal.
Just don’t pay the fine. Do you want to see the end of Hungary? Then let the invading illegal aliens come. Hungary should leave the EU
I love everybody saying Hungary should leave the EU. Frankly, go ahead. It would benefit everybody but Hungary, which would be landlocked and the poorest country in the continent for generations.
Orban has stolen the future of this country, not the EU, which has provided the country with the only lifeline and billions in funds – while Hungary has never paid a dime back. It’s constantly in the negative. Most EU countries contribute back. Not Hungary… Yet EU is always to blame. Now it’s time, finally Hungary does pay and learns.
It’s sad to see a place with hope turn into a corrupt scam country under his government and waves of new generation are leaving after the last brain drain. All the EUs fault. LOL.
