Hungary posts EUR 678 m trade surplus in May
Hungary posted a trade surplus of 678 million euros in April, up from 185 million the same month a year earlier, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said in a first reading of data on Tuesday.
Exports grew by an annual 4.5 percent to 9.428 billion euros, while imports were up 2.6 percent at 8.750 billion.
Fully 82 percent of exports and 75 percent of imports were traded with other European Union member states.
For January-May, exports increased by 5.2 percent to 46.044 billion euros and imports rose by 6.4 percent to 43.268 billion.
The trade surplus in the first five months of the year was 2.776 billion euros, narrowing by 347 million from the same period last year.
