Hungary-Serbia border crossings to be rebuilt
János Lázár, the minister of construction and investment, held talks on Tuesday with Goran Vesic, his Serbian counterpart, which he called constructive.
In a video posted on Facebook, Lázár said it was Hungary’s strategic interest to rebuild the three main border crossing points at Hercegszántó, Kelebia and Röszke.
He also said that at the meeting they had discussed bilateral public transport and rail projects. Lázár said he had highlighted the importance of connecting motorways between the two countries and completing the construction of the Budapest-Belgrade rail line.
Another railway project connecting Szeged with Subotica (Szabadka) and Subotica with Baja is also highly important, he said. Lázár said the Serbian minister will later in the day meet Hungarian business people including Sandor Csanyi, the CEO of OTP Bank.
