Hungary supports increased EU arms supplies to Ukraine, no veto
The European Union should focus on peacemaking in Ukraine instead of sanctions that lead to nowhere and arms supplies worth hundreds of millions of euros, the Hungarian foreign minister said in Brussels on Monday.
The ministry said that Péter Szijjártó told a press conference during the break of an EU foreign affairs council meeting that the European Commission was already preparing a tenth package of sanctions against Russia and it was in an advanced state, supported by the majority of member states.
Ukraine’s foreign minister who joined the meeting via a video link called for sanctions against the Russian nuclear sector and the proposal enjoyed some support within the EU, he added.
“We Hungarians basically dispute the usefulness of sanctions. If the original purpose of the sanctions was to stop the war then the past almost one year has proven that this effort was unsuccessful. The sanctions have taken the European Union to a dead-end and they cause more damage to us than to the Russians,” he said.
Nuclear energy is essential for Hungary’s energy supplies, with the blocks in Paks securing a third of the country’s electricity consumption, he said. A contract was signed about the plant’s expansion nice years ago, he added.
Experience from recent months showed that only those countries are safe from the point of energy supplies that can produce a significant part of their domestic energy demands for themselves, he said.
“It is completely evident and will not surprise anyone that Hungary refuses to support any measure that would restrict nuclear cooperation with Russia in any way,” he added.
“There is no compromise when it comes to national energy supplies,” the foreign minister said.
Answering a question, he said that press reports suggesting that Szijjártó said that
the Hungarian government does not think it is a good idea to increase arms transfers, but they will not prevent the implementation of the European Union’s decision on this issue.
Hungary was planning to veto the EU financing of arms supplies to Ukraine were lies, minister said.
He added that continual consultations were under way about the sanctions imposed against Russia. It is important for Europe’s credibility that those should not be included in the sanctions lists if there are no legal or other reasons for this.

Interesting.
The “Fall Guy” – for the Orban led Government of Hungary – the Foreign Minister – Peter Szijjarto, continues to remined me muchly of Heinrich Himmler, how many feet does he have?
The “Lemmings” of the Orban Government.
The “orders” being handed down from – question “without notice” – has Victor Orban created another title for himself, through the “Culling” that has taken place, could be read as a “blood bath” – in our Army, that he has become our Commander – in – Chief our Supreme Commander – of our Armed Forces/Services?
It would be CALAMITOUS – Victor Orban , the “rotunda” in statue size – he represents – standing in front of Houses of Parliament – “decked out” – in a decorous military uniform, all the “bells & whistles” – epaulettes and all, cap on, taking the salute of military personal “passing” marching on by.
REMEMBER – what Idi Amin – looked like in those “infamous ” years 1971-1979 – in Power of Uganda.
Wonder – if Prime Minister or our Commander – in – Chief, the newly self appointed Supreme Commander of our Armed Services/Forces of Hungary – Victor Orban, has read Amin’s autobiography/
Hungary, the ventriloquist – the Prime Minister, Victor Orban – pulling the strings, that the Foreign Minister, acts like one of a ventriloquist performance “partners” – does not the orders being handed down from the top, is it not understood, that Foreign Minister – Peter Szijjarto, has just (2)Two feet?
Hungary – messages are being DISPATCHED to various camps – by “partners” of the principal ventriloquist of Hungary, that are displaying EXHIBITING – that we have MANY feet in our anatomy make up in Hungary – and HAVE no clarity – WHAT camp we really are in, other than as DISCLOSED factually, our on-going alignment support of Russia & China.
“You put your right foot in, you take your right foot out, you put your left foot in, you take the left foot out, you turn your-self round – and that’s what its ALL about.
Its called doing the – Hokey Pokey.
Hungary – continues to DISPLAY – not truly understanding nor KNOWING – looking at present and into the FUTURE, under Victor Orban – What they are ALL about.
Are they under a Dictatorship as they certainly are NOT under DEMOCRACY.
Naive American taxpayers are paying for:
1. A proxy war for Ukraine, a country that is not a democracy.
2. Zelensky is a dictator, oppressed all opposition and jailed some.
3. Zelensky is practicing ethnic cleansing, that is a war crime.
4. Zelensky’s government is corrupt, EU new showed a suitcase full of money found in Zelensky’s ally home.
5. Zelensky’s chief of staff, deputy minister of defense, many provincial governors and government employees are allowed to resign and are not prosecuted. Wonder if corrupt politicians are not prosecuted because Zelensky is also corrupt?
6. Zelensky has not accounted for money and weapons sent to Ukraine, money found with corrupt politicians gained from selling western weapons?
7. Zelensky banned foreign travel for government employees, yet his wife is living the highlight in western EU.
Is it now time for taxpayers to call their representatives and senators to stop wasting taxpayers’ money and unless these war mongers (like L. Graham) respond positively, stop supporting the party financially and find a challenger for the next election. The next candidate should be a patriot and not a globalist.
Hungary should use its veto.
Why is it that I feel that I’m reading a “Dmitry Medvedev” Twitter-type (tweet on 26th of December) comment here by a “mariavontheresa”?
Hm, how odd, you have not taken off your rose-colored glasses. Items listed in my comments can be found on US media. The truth is hard to accept when brainwashed by leftist media.
Apparently the Hungarian government counts on a reasonable number of Hungarians believing the immoral support for Putin can pass as pacifism.
