Hungary’s passport in the world’s Top 10
The Hungarian travel document is among the European Union’s best. Hungarian citizens are welcomed in many countries, and the Hungarian passport is in the global top 10.
The London-based investment migration consultancy Henley & Partners has published its most recent 2023 Q1 passport ranking. The Hungarian passport is in the world’s top 10 strongest travel documents, allowing Hungarians to enter 186 countries worldwide. It is the 8th strongest passport in the world, with the Polish, Greek and Canadian preceding even the United States, which grants access to 185 states, Mandiner wrote.
In Central Europe, the Hungarian and the Polish documents are among the strongest ones. The Hungarian one is more valuable than the Slovenian (11th), Slovakian (10th), Romanian and Bulgarian (16th), Lithuanian (10th), Latvian (11th) and Estonian (12th). However, it is weaker than the Austrian (4th) and the Czech (6th). The region’s “weakest” passport is the Croatian (17), allowing locals to enter “only” 175 countries without a visa or a visa automatically granted for every tourist. You can check out the list by clicking HERE.
Interestingly, Hungarian citizens with a Hungarian passport cannot enter Ethiopia, Pakistan, Guyana (South America), and Lesotho (enclave in South Africa). Meanwhile, only the Hungarians can travel to South Africa from the region without a visa.
The most valuable passport in the world is the Singaporean allowing citizens to enter 194 countries, followed by the Japanese. Interestingly, a Hungarian company developed that one. Read our article about this HERE. This time, the third place went to Germany, Italy and Spain. The worst passport is the one of Afghanistan (26 countries), followed by Iraq and Syria (29 states).
In March, Henley put the Hungarian passport in 9th place. Hungarians could enter then “only” 185 countries without a visa. Read more HERE.
