Important Vermeer arrives in Budapest for display
(MTI) – The Astronomer, one of the most famous paintings by 17th century Dutch master Johannes Vermeer, has arrived in Budapest and will be displayed as part of an exhibition in the Museum of Fine Arts.
The large-scale exhibition, focusing on Rembrandt and the “golden century” of Dutch painting, will present 178 pictures by 100 artists, including 20 Rembrandts, Laszlo Baan, the director of the museum, told MTI.
The exhibition will open on Oct. 31 and close on Feb. 15 next year. On the same day, the museum will also close for a three-year reconstruction project.
