Investigation would be launched into Budapest Airport
The Hungarian green party LMP wants to assess the problems caused by the Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport with a questionnaire. According to the party, complaints about the unbearable noise have been coming in from almost all areas of the capital for years.
In the 17th and 18th districts, close to the airport, it is common for aircraft to cause damage to buildings and even pose a direct threat to life from the tiles they knock down, napi.hu writes. A little further away from the airport, in Zugló (14th district) and Kőbánya (10th district), people also complain of noise and vibrations, Bernadett Bakos, a member of parliament for the opposition party, said on Sunday. She stressed that there are schools and kindergartens in the affected areas.
Even from districts farther away from the airport, from Újbuda (11th district), Csepel (21st district), Budafok (22nd district), Újpest (4th district) and Óbuda (3rd district), there are complaints, said Bernadett Bakos. She added that she believes that neither the airport operator nor the government is addressing these complaints. The questionnaire launched by the party aims to assess the problems caused by the airport, thus carrying out a task that the relevant ministries and airport operators have failed to do, Bernadett Bakos said.
