Is it time to say goodbye to the depressing winter weather in Hungary?
In the past few days, many people in Hungary experienced extreme headaches. It does not come as a surprise after seeing the drastic weather change. For now, we can bid farewell to the gloomy and freezing weather and enjoy a bit of spring in the midst of winter. Will the pleasant sunny weather stay in our beloved country?
Unexpected warmth
As 24.hu also notes, Strom Ingunn struck Norway with hurricane-force winds, reaching speeds of up to 220 km/h. This event consequently led to unseasonably mild conditions locally. This weather phenomenon resulted in the west-easterly flow that brought the warm weather from Spain to the Carpathian Basin. Now, the weather is pleasant in Hungary, usually, the temperatures and weather conditions get this good towards the end of March or April. It may be shocking that in 1954, the weather was as low as minus 27.7 degrees Celsius in our country.
Will the pleasant weather stay?
As we progress through the week, the prevailing dry and sunny conditions with temperatures ranging from 10 to 17 degrees Celsius will persist. However, a shift in weather patterns is imminent in the western regions. After Scandinavia, a potent cyclone is now taking shape in the southern British Isles. This development is causing the polar vortex to collapse and the airflow to become north-south again.
Consequently, Western Europe is poised to experience heavy rainfall, while the central regions, including Hungary, will experience even warmer air coming from further south. Saturday and Sunday will see highs of around 11 degrees in the west, 17 degrees in the west and around 20 degrees elsewhere, with some scattered precipitation. However, it is too early to celebrate the amazing weather, as a new weather front is on its way. The front is expected to arrive early next week.
