It’s time to say goodbye to 2L Coca-Cola
The size and price of large Coca-Cola bottles in our supermarkets are going to change – the famous 2 litre bottle is being taken off the shelves, and replaced with a sleeker 1.75 litre version. Moreover, the 2.5 litre sized bottles will have been replaced with the 2.25 sized ones by the end of the summer, origo.hu reported.
Sales and Marketing Director of Coca-Cola Hungary Kata Bányai told to origo.hu that Coca-Cola rolled-out the 1.75 size bottles in April, which would replace the 2 litre sized bottles, adding that the change also affects other Coca-Cola brands such as Fanta, Sprite, and Kinley.
If you think that the reduction in size equals with price fall, you are wrong, as the company has already increased the average price per litre of its products by 2%.
Coca-Cola claimed that the change had been preceded by research which showed that the smaller size was more suited to the growing trend for convenience. The change in size was a response to the changing of the customers’ habits not only in Hungary, but also in Great Britain. “Shopping habits are evolving, with small basket shops now increasingly frequent – particularly in smaller households,” said Coca-Cola Vice President for Sales and Marketing Nick Canney.
