Kaufmann, Mehta, DiDonato in Budapest Palace of Arts during 2017/18 season
Budapest, March 7 (MTI) – International stars including Jonas Kaufmann, Kent Nagano, Zubin Mehta and Joyce DiDonato will be on stage at the Budapest Palace of Arts (MÜPA) during the 2017/2018 season, the institution’s director-general said on Tuesday.
In October, the Vienna Philharmonic will perform Hungarian and Austrian pieces under the baton of Zubin Mehta, Csaba Kael told a press conference.
In November the Hamburg Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Kent Nagano will give a concert in Müpa and in May 2018 the Shanghai Philharmonic will return to give a concert in Budapest after 13 years, he said.
Peruvian operatic tenor Juan Diego Florez will perform Mozart arias at a concert in December and Jonas Kaufmann will present Wolf’s Italian Songbook together with Diana Damrau in February next year.
Closing the season US mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato will recite classic pieces with the Il Pomo d’Oro Orchestra in June.
