Lightning destroyed a trolleybus in Budapest
Lightning struck a building in Budapest, the Hungarian capital. The burnt building contained a trolleybus worth HUF 140 million (EUR 380 thousand).
The Budapest Transport Company (BKV) has lost a trolleybus, the Association of Municipal and Suburban Transport (VEKE) said on Facebook.
According to the description of the post, a trolleybus was in the workshop for repairs and modifications in the Újpest district of Budapest, Hungary, when it was struck by lightning.
The building was not properly protected against lightning, so not only the building but also the vehicle burned to the ground.
The new Ganz-Skoda-Solaris Trollino 610 costs about HUF 140-160 million, and BKV has already cancelled it from its fleet. There were no personal injuries.
