Long lines at Serbia-Hungary border crossings

Budapest, September 16 (MTI) – On Wednesday morning a 4-km tailback developed on Serbian side at the Kelebia-Tompa border crossing — one of only two crossings that remained opened during the night under police guard.

The Serbian motoring association said traffic was also heavy at the Backi Breg-Hercegszanto crossing but the waiting time was no more than 20 minutes.

An MTI correspondent reported from Kelebia that the line of vehicles reached beyong the border zone.

According to press reports, migrants on the Serbian side were not yet attempting to cross these borders.

The crossings at Gyala-Tiszasziget and Bajmok-Bacsalmas opened at 7am but these can only be used by Serbian, EU and Swiss citizens.

The Serbian motoring association said the Horgos-Roszke and Kiralyhalom-Asotthalom border crossings would be closed on Wednesday.
