No flights to Budapest today
According to the flight information system of Ferenc Liszt International Airport, Lufthansa cancelled all of its flights to Budapest on Wednesday. – writes napi.hu. This affects four pairs of flights from Frankfurt and three from Munich. The airline asks the affected passengers not to go to the airport because they are trying to rebook them on other days and flights. Moreover, they recommend travelling by train.
The strike comes at a bad time
Michael Niggemann, Lufthansa’s HR director, criticised the union’s move. They called a strike only after two days of negotiation, which causes huge damage to the constructive round of collective discussions. “During the high season, this significantly affects our passengers, and it also puts a particular strain on our employees during the already difficult period of air transport,” he added. Moreover, in several large German states, the summer vacation has begun. This further complicates the issue.
