May Day – Exciting Programs In The Countryside

Haven’t you got programs for May Day yet? Several Hungarian cities organize interesting programs such as air shows in Budapest, wine-tasting in Villány, concerts and even horse-shows in Gödöllő. In case you would like to find excellent programs in Hungary, you do not have to go far. The Divány.hu website collected the most interesting and attractive programs. So, if your time allows, spend the long weekend in these cities!
May Day horse-show in Gödöllő
The special horse-show called “Lovasmajális”” takes place at the St. Stephen University Campus in Gödöllő. During the whole day show-jumping competition, international rodeo bulls and cutting show can be seen by the visitors and guests. Children could enjoy the pony riding and the fun-fair while their parents watch the horse competition. Playhouse and petting zoo (állatsimogató?) are also organized for the kids. Moreover, interactive musical tale performances and magic show will also take place in the morning. While the morning is for the kids, various concerts – from Magna Cum Laude concert to György Korda performance– are organized for the adults in the afternoon. There’s no entrance fee to any of the programs and the venue is easy to reach from the city center of Gödöllő by the narrow-gauge.

“BorZsongás” Wine Festival in Villány
While the above programs last only one day, the May Day festival in Villány takes place during the whole weekend. According to the Dívány.hu, the 9th BorZsongás Wine Festival will be held in several villages from the 1st May until the 4th May this year. Several villages and wine yards of Harkány, Villány, Siklós and even more places wait those guests who would like to taste the particular wine of this region. Luckily, shuttle bus services help the transport between the venues, thus nobody has to refrain from tasting the wines.
Besides, other exciting programs – like Kerekes Band concert or Villány Stifolder competition – will be organized in this region. Stifolder is a particular sausage of the Villány region that anyone may taste. The organizers noted that the visitors could see unique and special performances but traditional May Day parade as well. Old-timer Parade and Maypole Event will be held in Palkonya, traditional folk games will be organized in Villány while dance training program will wait the visitors in Kisjakabfalva.
