Minister: migration should be stopped, not encouraged

The Hungarian government’s position remains clear: migration should not be supported and encouraged but stopped, Justice Minister Judit Varga said on Wednesday.

Varga said in an English-language Facebook post that “while the whole world is busy fighting against the coronavirus, in Brussels the left-wing parties have once again put the

promotion of migration on their agenda.”

“The Brussels elite, who are happy to promote multiculturalism, have discussed a new migration report, which does not even include proposals to strengthen border protection or stop illegal migration,” she added. “On the other hand, it calls for the resettlement of migrants in Europe by referring to human rights,” Varga said, adding that this showed “how far Brussels is from people’s real problems”.

Varga said

“the left-wing, hiding behind the comfortable slogan of solidarity, is trying to gloss over the problems instead of solving them”.

“If we really want to help our fellow human beings in trouble, we need to treat migration locally, eliminating its root causes,” she said. “Hungary has recognised that a long time ago, and together with the Hungary Helps program, it will continue to take serious steps to ensure that everyone can live in peace in their own country.”

“The coronavirus pandemic is not over yet, so it would be timely for Brussels to finally focus on people’s real problems,” she added.

  1. Hungary Helps, although a worthy organisation is but a tiny drop in the ocean of troubles in the regions where conflict and poverty are the driving forces behind migration, dwarfed by long standing charitable organisations such as Oxfam, Action against Hunger and Christian Aid to name but a few. Furthermore, The EU is collectively the biggest donor for international aid in the world, providing over € 50 billion a year to help overcoming poverty and advance global development. It is committed to implementing the international agreements on aid effectiveness. In terms of overall spend,in 2020 the United States is the biggest aid donor to foreign aid spending $35.5 billion in 2020, followed by Germany ($28.4 billion), Britain ($18.6 billion), Japan ($16.3 billion) and France ($14.1 billion). Most of this money is spent on trying to alleviate the root causes of migration in terms of developing resources and implementing programmes to make communities sustainable. However no Charity, NGO or Government Aid program can directly stop wars (where regime change has been attempted by foreign powers it has always failed and usually made things worse). Instead of writing rubbish in Facebook of all places, that well known purveyor of untruths, perhaps Varga would do well and go and see for herself what work is being done by organisations with considerably more funding and both international recognition and expertise than the fledgling Hungary Helps which has only been in existence for 3 years and has a minuscule, almost microscopic budget.

  2. If all the do gooders and bleeding heart liberals want to help these people, help them back home where they came from and stop letting the US military and their mercenaries foment wars in their native homelands. Europe does not need them here.

  3. I agree 100% with the comments made by “Not Mario”.

Send all Moslems back to their own countries.

  4. “Hungary to Block EU’s Africa-Pacific Trade and Development Deal”. The Eu Parliament will never learn. The leftist Marxist members must not include extension of migration in to the EU. Hungary refuses to have her population diluted, with good reason.

Hungary blocks EU statement urging Israel-Palestine ceasefire. How dare the EU side with Terrorist Hamas. They attacked Israel. It is only by the Ingenuity of the Israeli people and the Iron Dome that Israel managed to save the population from the 3000 rockets fired. The Hamas’s goal was massacre.

There is an increase of anti Semitism across the EU, excluding Hungary. It is time for the leaders of the EU to speak up and side with Israel.
