Miskolc Advent tram can become Europe’s most stunning again – vote here!

For the ninth time, the Czech transport portal MHD86 has launched its international poll to crown Europe’s most breathtaking Advent tram. Over the past eight years, Miskolc’s festive tram has triumphed in first place every single time, earning glowing international acclaim for the city of Miskolc—with its dazzling array of colourful, intricate Christmas experiences—and for Miskolc Városi Közlekedési Ltd.

Miskolc’s Advent tram could once again become Europe’s most stunning

This year’s contest pits festive vehicles from 38 cities across 13 countries against each other in an incredibly fierce field. Voters from across Europe will discover one jaw-dropping Advent tram after another, so every single vote counts doubly for Miskolc’s entry if it’s to defend its champion title once more.

What sets Miskolc’s Advent tram apart year after year is its magical transformation: it doesn’t just get dazzling exterior lights— it undergoes a complete interior makeover, whisking passengers into a richly detailed, thematic fairy-tale world.

This season, the outer design bursts with carousel elements evoking the joy of travel and festive charm, symbolic figures from nature, graceful deer, and the iconic Nutcracker from Christmas traditions. These elements fuse into a shimmering, moving spectacle that blends seamlessly into Miskolc’s enchanting Advent light display.

That elegant exterior flair spills right into the passenger compartment. Dominated by deep green and maroon hues, lavish garlands, handcrafted wooden Nutcracker figures, and rocking horses, it conjures an intimate, fairground atmosphere. Pyramid-shaped Christmas trees, a wooden pavilion scented like hot chocolate, and a cosy fireplace motif amplify the yuletide magic, together delivering a heart-warming, joyous journey.

Miskolc’s Advent tram springs to life each year through months of meticulous planning and craftsmanship. Its intricate details and cohesive visual splendour reflect the dedication and expertise of the transport company’s team.

From the lighting of the first Advent candle right through to Epiphany on 6 January, the tram rolls through the city as one of its most beloved holiday highlights—alongside countless other unique experiences you’ll find nowhere else. It’s an absolute must-visit reason to head to Miskolc, especially if you haven’t done so before.

Voting information

The poll runs until 12 noon on Monday, 5 January. You can cast your vote on the mhd86.cz website. After browsing the featured trams, select Miskolc at the bottom of the page, enter your email address, and indicate whether you wish to subscribe to their newsletter (yes/no). You’ll then need to complete an email verification process, and finally click the “Hlasujte” button to confirm your vote.

The portal doesn’t provide live updates on the standings. Results are expected in the days following the 5 January deadline.

Miskolc is counting on public support this year too, so its Advent tram can once again claim the crown as Europe’s most beautiful in this global showdown.
