Moderna vaccine to be merchandised in Hungary?

Medison Pharma could be the retailer of the Moderna vaccine in Central and Eastern Europe and Israel.

Ever since there is a working vaccine, let alone so many varieties, the question arose immediately of whether one day they would be available for any citizen to buy and to be vaccinated when they choose to. In some countries, this form already exists, like

San Marino that offers tourists the Russian vaccine.

Even though the jabs right now are free and financed by every country’s government, overall, the vaccination process of the population could go faster if people did not have to put their names on a long waiting list but instead buy the vaccine they desire and get inoculated right away. Especially as the example if Israel shows how important the vaccine is in fighting the pandemic and returning to normality. As people are already tired of the lockdown situation spiced with many restrictions and measurements, the market-based selling of the vaccine sounds like a good idea, even though it would cost a bit more due to having a mediate company between the manufacturer and the buyer. Nevertheless, especially right before summer, many people would be willing to pay to get vaccinated much faster than they usually would in their country’s system.

As hvg.hu writes, the Moderna vaccine could be the first to be sold on the market and be available for anyone.

The company has just announced that they partner up with Medison Pharma to merchandise their Covid-19 jabs in Israel and Central and Eastern Europe.

According to the official statement of Moderna, it is Medison Pharma that takes on the task to sell their vaccines in the following 20 countries: Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, Ukraine, Moldova, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Israel.

The general manager for merchandising of Moderna, Corinne Le Goff, said: “We appreciate this new partnership with Medison Pharma to ensure successful delivery of our mRNA COVID-19 vaccine to market.

Working together with our partners, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fighting the pandemic by delivering our vaccine to populations globally.”

Medison Pharma, of course, also expressed the company’s view on the partnership and expectations for the future.
“We are excited to partner with Moderna in 20 markets, covering over 175 million lives across the entire Central Eastern Europe region and in Israel,” said Meir Jakobsohn, Founder and CEO of Medison Pharma.

The announcement, however, does not mention the date from when the vaccine would be available on the listed markets, thus in Hungary, too.
