More electricity outages to come in October in Budapest and Pest county
The electricity supplier in Budapest and Pest county, Central Hungary, already noticed their customers that they should expect power outages in the coming weeks or months. The reason is not in connection with the energy or economic crisis hitting Hungary hard.
According to blikk.hu, Budapest and Pest county residents should expect electricity outages in the coming period, ELMŰ, the region’s service provider said. That is because they work on the development of the system. The work must be carried out, so the inconvenience is inevitable, the company added.
ELMŰ already sent the information letters to its customers in the region affected. They cleared that they were working on making their system safer and more reliable. ELMŰ says that the development project cannot be postponed because of the increased customer demands regarding the system. Therefore, they will carry out an increased number of maintenance and improvement jobs. As a result, some of their customers will have more power blackouts than they are used to.

There are types of works during which no sections of the electricity system need to be turned off to ensure the safety of their colleagues, they explained. However, there are jobs when they need to shut down power. For example, when they replace a column, build, maintain power transformer plants or restore voltage variation.
Portfolio.hu said that ELMŰ promised they would do everything they could to notify all of their residential and business customers in case of a power blackout. Furthermore, on THIS website, everybody can follow where planned electricity outages would occur. Moreover, you can set it online to get an email of every planned blackout 15 days earlier.
