Museum Festival Offers 1,700 Programmes
(MTI) – This autumn’s festival of museums will offer over 1,700 events at 168 locations nationwide between Sept. 29 and Nov. 9.
Miklos Cseri, deputy state secretary at the Human Resources Ministry, told a press conference on Thursday that the festival had been initiated in the early 2000s, when it was realised that museums need a paradigm shift to survive; they need a modern approach and new and interesting programmes to convey the information they preserve to the audience, he said.
Highlights of the festival will include a teachers’ night on Oct. 10, when 79 museums will invite teachers to present their educational programmes, or “basement to attic” tours of museums through which visitors will be offered a peek into back rooms and other facilities normally closed to the general public.
