Museum of Etnography: World Press Photo ’13 on this week
If you haven’t seen this year’s best photographs from all over the world, you can still make it in time. The exhibition closes on 27 October.
Museum of Etnography/ Néprajzi Múzeum: 22 October 2013, Tuesday 10:00 – 27 October 2013, Sunday 20:00
WPP is dedicated to supporting photojournalism and documentary photography worldwide, and to stimulating high standards. They strive to generate wide public interest in photography, to build appreciation for photographers’ work, and to encourage the free exchange of information.
Each year, World Press Photo invites photographers from across the globe to participate in the World Press Photo Contest, the top photojournalism competition worldwide. An independent international jury of 19 experts judges all entries in Amsterdam, and an annual exhibition takes the prizewinning images to 100 locations in 45 countries. It is seen by millions of visitors.
There’s also a supplementary exhibition going on in the Museum of Etnography, showcasing the photographs of Gavin Lyons, called Magical Lands. Lyons’ phot-series present the viewer with the beautiful and fascinating land of Ireland through mezmerizing pictures.
An adult ticket costs 2,100 HUF, discount tickets for pensioners and students cost 1,000 HUF. The exhibition is open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, but will be open for longer (from 10 am to 8 pm) on Friday and Saturday.
