National, Budapest heat records broken!
Both the national and Budapest heat records were broken on Saturday, the National Meteorological Service said, quoting unofficial preliminary data.
The previous record of 18.2 C. held by Pecs, in southern Hungary, on this day in 1955 was smashed in the area around Sopron, in the west, with 19.8 C. recorded today. Újpest in the capital recorded 15.1 C. 2019, and today 17 C. was recorded at several weather stations in Budapest.

Okay, but when did uniform, consistent, reliable temperature measurement and recording start? My guess is less than 100 years ago, which makes this kind of bombastic statements meaningless.
