New destinations from Budapest Airport in the winter season
Balázs Bogáts, the deputy CEO of the Budapest Airport, talked about the future of Hungary’s main airgate, their plans and new destinations in the winter season in an interview with novekedes.hu.
Novekedes.hu is an economy-focused Hungarian news outlet run by the Hungarian National Bank. Mr Bogáts said that the summer season’s most popular destinations were Türkiye and Egypt. Furthermore, Wizz Air’s three flights to Saudi Arabia also exceeded expectations. Their traffic reached 90% of the 2019 record year this summer. Apart from external factors, their flight expansion team performed well. Thanks to their work, the Budapest-Ningbo (China) route was established. You may also reach Belfast from the Hungarian capital, and multiple airlines increased the number of flights on their existing routes.
The number of passengers will exceed 14 million, which will increase to 16 million in 2024.
Mr Bogáts said inflation did not hit foreign passengers as much as Hungarians. Furthermore, Budapest and Hungary remained an attractive destination for tourists.
In the winter schedule, there will be new destinations from Budapest:
- Iberia Airlines to Madrid;
- Sun Express to Türkiye;
- Wizz Air to Copenhagen, Cairo and Sharm el-Sheikh;
- Ryanair to Birmingham, Alicante and Tenerife.
Moreover, LOT’s and Korean Airline’s Seoul flights will also remain.
There will be more charter flights this winter. As a result, you may be able to travel to Oman from Budapest directly.
