New Hungarian State Secretary at the Ministry of EU Affairs
Hungary’s minister of EU affairs has appointed Pál Barna Zsigmond, deputy leader of parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, as the ministry’s state secretary.
“There are exciting times ahead of us with the European Parliament elections coming up,” Zsigmond, a Fidesz lawmaker, said on Facebook. “Our aim is for decisions to be made in Brussels that serve the interests of Hungarians and to make Hungary’s 2024 EU presidency successful.”
Zsigmond said he would exploit the extensive international experience he had gained in foreign affairs, noting his previous posts as leader of the Hungarian delegation of NATO’s Parliamentary Assembly, deputy leader of the Hungarian delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), and member of the CoE’s Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights.
