Further developments can be expected near the River Danube. From the Gubacsi Bridge all the way to the Soroksár border, a continuous promenade will be built. It will offer a closer contact to the water, with the addition of picnic spots, footpaths along the river, as well as piers.
PestBuda revealed the local authorities’ plans of building a 900-metre-long promenade along the River Danube, excellent for strolls. The idea first surfaced in 2018. Since then, locals have been involved in the process and could express their opinions regarding the project.
At the moment, the area in question is divided by fences. The plans involve removing the fences and creating an up to 900-metre-long path that continues along the River Danube. It will also be much more accessible.
To improve the experience even more, those behind the project want to offer experiences really close to the water. So, they plan to create ‘water promenades’ that venture out from the promenade on the shore onto the water, then circle back to the promenade a few metres later.
According to the plans, the piers will have sun terraces, and between the piers, nets will be hung, offering even more spaces for relaxing. At night, street lamps and security cameras will ensure safety.
Apart from creating new features, renewing older ones is also included in the plans. So, the water playground would be renovated, with new elements added.
Next to the playground, an outdoor fitness park would be installed, with picnic spots nearby.
The promenade will only be accessible on foot, but there will be a cycling path close by, too.
On July 11th, a body of representatives decided that they will adjust the new elements so that they fit the already existing ones, such as the playground, the current paths, as well as the flora and fauna.
According to the plans, there are two years to finish construction. However, the local government plans to open it to the public as early as next summer.
