New railway day tickets introduced in Hungary
From 1 July, two new seasonal ticket products, the Mecsek Day Ticket and the Tenkes Day Ticket, are available on the MÁV-Volán Group’s public transport services. It is now worth trying these two day tickets and taking advantage of public transport options in the beautiful Mecsek Hills and Villányi Mountains.
Mecsek Day Ticket
The Mecsek Day Ticket is valid on the Dombóvár-Bátaszék railway line between Dombóvár and Mórágy, on the Budapest-Dombóvár-Pécs main line between Dombóvár and Pécs, on the Godisa-Komló railway line and on local bus services in the area bordered by these railway lines.
The Mecsek Day Ticket is available for everyone for HUF 1990 (EUR 5.31). Thanks to the new ticket, you can also travel to the National Blue Trail route at a reduced price, MÁV reports. It is also worth choosing to travel by bus or train when organising excursions.
Tenkes Day Ticket
The Tenkes is the second highest point of the Villányi Mountains and is the defining feature of the whole region. With the new day ticket, the MÁV-Volán Group offers discounted travel to hikers in the area. The Tenkes Day Ticket will be valid on the Pécs-Villány-Magyarbóly line between Pécs-Villány and on the Villány-Mohács line.
This day ticket can also be used on the Volánbus interurban services between the settlements in the Pécs-Mohács-Villány-Harkány quadrangle. The Tenkes Day Ticket costs HUF 1490 (EUR 3.98).
Validity and where to buy
Both day tickets can be purchased for every day from 1 July until the end of the school holidays, and thereafter for weekends and public holidays, and entitles to unlimited travel on designated routes on the day of validity. Both tickets can be purchased at MÁV-START ticket offices, ticket vending machines or online via the MÁV app.
