The opposition Democratic Coalition (DK) has called for the state to pay for everyone in Hungary to be tested for novel coronavirus.
“It soon became obvious that the government was not up to the task of establishing the conditions for mass testing,” DK spokesman Balázs Barkóczi told an online press conference on Thursday.
As a result, a growing number of private labs started offering tests costing between 9,000 forints (EUR 25) to 30,000 forints, he added.
“Nowhere in the world are people forced to pay for coronavirus testing,” he said. “Even in the US, they carry out testing free of charge.”
If the state is unable to carry out testing, it should at least pay the costs of people turning to private labs, he added.

I have often wondered what the initials DK represent.
Obviously, it refers to “DUMM KOPFS”.
For those REAL dummies out there (DK please take note) there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to be gained – except for unnecessary expense and stress at many levels – in having UNIVERSAL COVID-19 TESTING.
The coronavirus-testing strategy followed by Hungary’s Government – in line with expert medical advice – is very effective and has been acknowledged as such by the International Deep Knowledge Group (ranking Hungary fourth in Europe behind only Germany / Switzerland / Austria in terms of governmental measures to protect its citizens from Covid-19).
Why is it that the opposition parties – DK included – keep criticising the Hungarian Government’s actions at this time of national / international crisis ?
Are these individuals so BEREFT of neuronal activity that – between the lot of them – they are UNABLE to come up with any original CONSTRUCTIVE suggestions ?
Or is it that these so-called politicians are scared witless of being relegated to the ‘waste basket of history’ and as a result continually utter ridiculous comments rather than keep quiet ?
It reminds me of that old saying : “It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt”.
It is possible that I’m wrong but I suspect most Hungarian voters will dismiss ravings of DK and other political opposition parties as being nothing more than the agonising death throes of those entities.
