New heat record in Hungary
February 4 was the hottest on record in Hungary, according to the National Meteorological Service (OMSZ).
The mercury hit 18.1 C. in the town of Letenye, in western Hungary, on Thursday, OMSZ said on Facebook. The highest temperature ever recorded in Hungary on February 4, before today, had been 17.6 C. in Szentgotthárd, in the west, in 2004.
Daytime average highs reached 14 C. around the country, OMSZ added.
Today there will be a lot of clouds in the sky over most of the country. In the Great Hungarian Plain there may be scattered rain, meanwhile having sunny periods in the southwest. The wind loses its strength, only in the larger landscapes of Transdanubia can feel lively air movement.Â
In the morning, mist may form in some places. The temperature will rise between -1 and +7 in the morning, between 3 and 15 degrees in the afternoon, it will be colder in the north and northeast, and more springy in the southwest.
