Nine Months Ago, The Tender Victory of Viktor Orban’s Son-in-Law Was Predicted

According to Index.hu, Akos Hadhazy was willing to bet on aquisitions of the Elios Zrt., owned by Istvan Tiborcz in Szekszard. The former representative said he was sure that the company of Orban’s son-in-law would win the 750-million city lighting project. As the sole tenderer, Elios won.

The representative of LMP in Szekszard predicted on Facebook that Elios Zrt. would win the city lighting tender. On March 20, days before the parliamentary elections, Akos Hadhazy – who also unveiled the tobacco shop-scandal – wrote the previously Fidesz member the prediction. Overall, the project costs HUF 750 million, and it is 85% funded by the EU.

The documentation shows the company’s offer was slightly lower than the so-called „estimated amount”. In competition, offers are usually much more lower, Index.hu says.

LMP announced on Sunday that they prosecute an unknown perpetrator in the cases of four public tenders. Andras Schiffer, co-chairman of LMP said referring to the article on Átlátszó.hu published on Sunday that the Elios Innovative Zrt. an its predecessor, which is owned by Istvan Tiborcz, won public tendersa total value of HUF 1.2 billion so that Sistrade Kft. participated in the preparation of the tender documents. This company is owned by Endre Hamar, whom Tiborcz bought back his shares from Elios.

According to Index.hu, Andras Schiffer says that four tenders’ technical content was determined by involvement of Sistrade, and part of the tenders were written out when even the change of the ownership has not happened. He also called incredible that there can be relationships of owners between any companies which are applying for a tender and those which are determining and preparating the technical content of a tender.

After the results, Hadhazy wrote on his blog he had repeatedly drawn attention that the leadership of the city „chose” only from one tender, which could mean two things. The mayor and the economic deputy-mayor were not aware of elemntary economic relationships (according to which competition may reduce prices) or they were intentionally serving individual interests.

The decision was very quick. The representatives of Szekszard received the proposal on August 17 2012, and it had been voted on August 21 2012, the project, which requires more than HUF 100 million excess from the city.

Hadhazy wrote that he had voted the proposal, but rejected the final decision. According to him, the mayor said he had talked everything with the future contractor.

Elios Zrt responded to the attacks on Monday, saying that they are carrying out their activities legally, and they are instituting proceedings against people who made incorrect statements, Index.hu says.
