No refugee status granted since Hungary sealed border with Croatia
Budapest, December 2 (MTI) – The immigration office has registered 486 asylum requests since the Hungarian-Croatian border was sealed with a fence on October 17 but nobody has received refugee status so far, daily Magyar Hirlap said on Wednesday.
Requests were rejected in 41 cases while in another in 143 cases they were cancelled or the submitter disappeared. Procedures are still under way in the remainder.
The office told the paper that expulsion was ordered in 208 cases, the paper said.
