Orbán cabinet: We are the ones doing the European Union a favour
If respect for the law is not restored in Europe, “it will be very difficult to keep the European Union together in the long run,” the head of the Prime Minister’s Office told a conference on Monday, marking the 20th anniversary of Hungary’s accession to the bloc.
In his keynote speech, Gergely Gulyás said Hungary continued to pursue clear and firm policies based on the principle that laws must be respected.
He said it would therefore be critical for Hungary to win over support for its position in the coming years and display the necessary determination when it comes to the matter of war and peace.
Gulyás said those who wanted peace and an end to “mad gender politics” and opposed migration would have to vote for Hungary’s ruling parties in the June European Parliament elections.
As regards the current state of the EU, he said the bloc was less competitive than the United States and China, and had “fared the worst by far” in global competition in recent years.
He pointed out that between 2005 and 2022, the United States’ GDP had grown from 13 trillion dollars to 23 trillion dollars, the EU’s from 11.9 trillion dollars to 16.6 trillion, and China’s GDP expanded from 2.3 trillion to 17.5 trillion dollars.
“The goal for Europe to be the world’s biggest and strongest region of competitiveness and freedom is much farther away today than back when this idea was formulated,” he said.
Gulyás said that rather than working to unite member states, Brussels was working to tear their previously existing unity apart and on “unjustifiably sanctioning certain countries”.
He said Brussels’s biggest mistakes were in environmental protection, arguing that it was drafting regulations that had no or only minimal impact on reducing harmful emissions while simultaneously hurting the bloc’s competitiveness.
Brussels, he added, had also failed to come up with a “comprehensible answer” to the issue of migration, the biggest challenge of the 21st century. He said neither was the legal framework in place, nor could member states agree on a common position on the issue. Member states, Gulyas pointed out, could not even agree on the need to protect the EU’s external borders.
He said Europe had also lost out on the war between Russia and Ukraine “regardless of what its outcome will be”.
Meanwhile, Gulyás said that whereas Hungary had been the worst-performing country in the region between 2004 and 2010, it had achieved “outstanding results” after 2010 and was now the fastest-growing country in the central European region. Central Europe, he said, was holding its own and had been able to preserve advantages such as social benefits, the welfare system, high wages and its rich culture.
He said Hungary’s standard of living was 80 percent of the EU average, “and there’s a good chance that we can reach 90 percent by 2030.”
Concerning Hungary’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the EU, Gulyás said:
“We’re the ones doing the European Union a favour, because a fair and balanced mediating role will be taken on by a country where normalcy still prevails and where common sense still holds a majority.”
“We trust that it will be somewhat better for Europe than if another member state were to perform this task,” he said. Hungary will help the EU to “do a little bit better for six months”, he added.

The EU has many problems, i would not deny that, but saying that Hungary is doing a favor would be true if Hungarians decides to leave. In few words, Hungary is not longer compatible with the Union, or viceversa if you will. What is sad is the delusional comments from Fidesz saying that Hungary quality life is improving while in the last 1 or 2 years actually is the opposite. But good luck with the Hungarian model, is full of lies and in the end Fiidesz will blame someone alse as they usually do.
The FACT of the matter is, the “Favour” for the European Union, and Global DEMOCRACY, would be if Hungary EXSPELED it-self out of the Family of European Country’s.
Hungary, under the growing INCAPABILTY through it’s on-going DISTALLATION of Democracy, under Victor Orban and his Fidesz Government, the strengthening of Relationships and Partnerships with Russia and China, that has witnessed, the BASTARDIZATION process of Hungary under the Orban – Fidesz Government, selling us out and off, the Membership of the European Union by Hungary no longer is no longer WORKABLE.
Victor Orban and his Fidesz Government, they can’t have both “sides of the cake”.
That’s the raging serious conundrum Victor Orban has caused Hungary, and the “weight” the likelihood of Hungary, remaining, being approved to remain a Member of the European Union, daily, with un-folding news, looks a HIGH probability that sooner than later, will be WITNESSED a European Union, without the Membership of Hungary.
The EU does not need or want Orban’s “favour”. Great propaganda statement from them. The Kremlin political assistants are working overtime at Fidesz headquarters. Peter Magyar is coming to kick your ass Fidesz!
Let there Be Light in Hungary, a FUTURE,
WHAT have we been DELIVERED over 14 Years ?
HOW, the Orban – Fidesz Government are Economically and Financial “ruined”.
Nothing left – nothing FACTUALLY coming to EASE our PAIN.
Economically and Financially, the entire INFRASTRUCTURE of Hungary, the mounting PRESSURIZATION escalating as I commentate, on Victor Orban and his Fidesz Government, there day of reckoning is COMING.
Victor Orban as Prime Minister and his Finance Minister – Mihaly Varga – they, before the arrival of the Corona Pandemic in Hungary, they were WARNED, that the Economic & Financial – path, course and direction, they had set Hungary off on, was DEEPLY volatile and EXPOSED – if circumstances “raised there nasty heads” – that in the circumstances if that occurred like has FACTUALLY has happened being the Covid Pandemic and Russia’s War on the Ukraine – Orban and Varga, by BRAINS “learned” -brains of greater intellectual knowledge and experience, that the Orban / Varga policies could end in what we KNOW has occurred in Hungary, being resulting in being a Cataclysmic Financial & Economic – DISASTER.
Hungary, the nadir of our Financial, Economic and “collapsing” Infrastructure – will WORSEN.
Orban & Varga – were WARNED, that WE see there POLICIES have been NOTHING, nothing but a Horrendous TRADGETY.
MILLIONS of Hungarians, spread the width and breath of our country, in Cities, Towns, Villages and Hamlets, citizens of ALL ages, from a multi-tude of there “station in life” there has BEEN no ESCAPING, the factual cataclysmic DISASTER, that after 14 years as the Fidesz Government of Hungary, under the present Prime Minister of Hungary – Victor Orban, what we have been DELIVERED.
Appalling & Shameful, that MUST through our SOLIDARITY as a country “pay back” those – Orban & his Fidesz Party that is DESERVING of a “Wrath” that “scares and damages” them, individually and as a Political Party, for WHAT they Have DELIVERED us.
Hungarians, in our MILLIONS – we HAVE been FAILED.
