Orbán presents Hungarian state award to Portuguese politician
Lisbon, April 14 (MTI) – Prime Minister Viktor Orbán presented Portugal’s former European People’s Party MEP Mario David with the Order of Merit of Hungary, Medium Cross on behalf of President János Áder, in Lisbon on Thursday.
David was presented the award for his consistent support of Hungarian interests and for improving Hungary’s image in Europe.
Orbán said David had been drawing attention to Hungary’s achievements and “political and economic struggles” for a long time. “He stood by us as a true friend even when others turned their backs on Hungary,” Orbán said of David.
