Orbán: What Hungary is about to do is almost unprecedented in Europe
Prime Minister Viktor Orban and members of his cabinet on Wednesday participated in a meeting to prepare the ministers for chairing the configurations under Hungary’s presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2024, MTI reported.
Hungary has started preparations for the presidency, the prime minister announced.
Hungary has sufficient experience and is well-prepared with the government preparing to hold the presidency for the second time, which is unparalleled in Europe, he said. “We are ready to tackle the challenges faced by Europe in a coordinated and effective fashion,” Orbán said.
The prime minister thanked officials of the Council’s General Secretariat, Director-General for General and Institutional Policy Didier Seeuws and Director-General for Communication and Information Agnieszka Bartol for accepting the invitation to attend the two-day meeting and share their experiences with the Hungarian ministers.
Hungary held its first EU presidency in January-June 2011.
“We have started work. There is no lack of experience and preparation. Hungary’s government is preparing for its second EU Presidency, which is almost unprecedented in Europe,” Orbán wrote on Facebook:
