Outrageous: sex in exchange for a lift for women refugees
Women crossing the Ukrainian-Hungarian border alone are preyed upon by unscrupulous men who demand sexual services in exchange for a ride.
Women refugees are not safe
The Hungarian Baptist Aid has drawn attention to the fact that women crossing the Ukrainian-Hungarian border alone and with luggage are being preyed upon by unscrupulous men who demand sexual services or staggering sums of money in exchange for a ride or accommodation.
The Hungarian Baptist Aid is encountering more and more such cases near the border. This has prompted an appeal to aid organisations to women fleeing Ukraine.
Unfortunately, there are always shameless people who take advantage of the plight of people in need. These hyenas have already appeared on the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, as RTL Klub’s report revealed.
Hyenas
The case has been brought to the attention of Ágnes Coll, the head of the anti-trafficking programme of the Hungarian Baptist Aid. According to her, this is a long-standing and completely typical process. First, there is a period when someone goes to the victim and treats her kindly. Everything seems to be okay, like they are really welcomed in a home.
And then comes the horrible part. The predator says
“Okay, but then do something in exchange for the room and board. For instance, provide sexual services.”
Because of this, several mothers have already contacted the relief organisation, Ágnes Coll told RTL News.
We heard it with our own ears. We were in Záhony, we are there every day, and we see these hyenas. They are there all the time, looking for helpless refugees,” a woman from Kisvárda told Híradó, as Blikk.hu reported.
If not for sex, they offer help for money. Those working at the border have heard more than once that hyenas ask for HUF 350-450,000 (EUR 918-1,180) from refugees for a ride to Budapest or Transdanubia.
The charity advises refugees to join a larger aid organisation as soon as possible, where they can be safe.
The news agency also asked the police about the matter, but they replied
“We have not yet been informed of any such case.”
