Péter Magyar rallies opposition at Budapest demonstration, calling for change in 2026

At today’s 23 October demonstration in Budapest, Péter Magyar, leader of the opposition Tisza Party, delivered a passionate speech at Bem József Square, later leading the crowd to Széna Square. He fiercely criticised Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, accusing him of betraying the legacy of 1956, and emphasised the need to return to the principles of unity and resistance against oppression.

Péter Magyar outlined a bold vision for the 2026 elections, announcing the start of a transparent selection process for future leaders committed to Hungary’s prosperity, Economx reported. He promised reforms in healthcare, education, and the economy, including restoring the national reputation, reclaiming stolen assets, and enhancing social welfare programs. Additionally, Magyar pledged to join the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, reinstate the independence of local governments, and limit prime ministers to two terms.

The demonstration also targeted former Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány, with Magyar blaming both Orbán and Gyurcsány for Hungary’s struggles over the past two decades, stating that their leadership has left the country in a political, economic, and moral crisis.

The event marked the Tisza Party’s commitment to offering a patriotic government, aiming to put Hungary back on an upward trajectory by 2026.

  1. We all know what this guy is about. We especially know what he means by “unity” and “democracy.”

Hungary will NOT become another nondescript province of the globalist-socialist empire, Pete!

  2. Truth & Facts – Steiner Michael.
Victory & Change will HAPPEN, as the party of your Membership are “easy pickings” for there betrayal of Hungary, that will continue to be EXPOSED, as the Economic CRISIS created by your leader – Victor Mihaly. Orban and the Minister of Finance – Mihaly Varga – the Fidesz Government of Hungary – WORSENS.
INTERESTING – it will continue to WATCH – the “blood letting” – the internal “blame games” – that have commenced inside of the Fidesz Party.
    EXPLOSIVE.
Its HAPPENING and will intensify as the GAP widens in what is occurring rightfully, witnessing the CRUSHING of the “Heinous” Orban led Fidesz Government of Hungary.

  3. American by birth that reads this Hungarian Daily Paper.
This guy Michael Steiner who writes comments hear this and practice it have bit of stomach to “talk your talk”.
One of my country’s famous Generals was George S Paton.
He had a saying that Michael Steiner should take on board.
    It was :
“Say what you mean, and mean what you say”.

  4. Fidesz and Orban are doing an excellent job. NOW is NOT the time to change the Captain of the ship unless Hungarians want to lose their country to The Soro’s crowd and the whims of Ursula Fond of Lying.

  5. FIDESZ stands for the “Federation of Young Democrats.”

Where are the young democrats in this party?

Since young people do not support FIDESZ, the writing is on the wall for Mr. Orbán.

A new, young generation will take over in 2026.

  6. The bottom line is that the government in power inevitably is responsible for how well the population lives. Fidesz has been in power for 14 years and their excuses and fantastic promises are no longer being accepted by the public as their lives become worse. In every democracy there must be change of government and change or at least the threat of change is most important to keep governments honest and avoid the entrenchment of corruption. The worst governments tend to be overwhelming marjority parliaments and the best to hold governments accountable are minority parliaments. Any of that sound familiar?

  7. On the money, Bob. The young consider Fidesz a gerontocracy made up of their grievance filled parents and increasingly, seemingly only their grandparents. There’s almost nobody under the age of 50 at Fidesz rallies. The young are tech savvy, speak languages well and can source (and understand) news from abroad. They’re proficient users of social media whereas the boomers and the even more elderly never got beyond Facebook. Change is coming, even if they fail to unseat the government at the next election, you can sure they’ll have approaching the same numbers of MPs in parliament and will be a massive thorn in the side of Fidesz which should make it much harder for them to stick their noses in the trough. Get ready for a feeding frenzy and irresponsible financial largesse over the next two years.

  8. Peter magyar,he would like the people are raped and steel everything from them, and the woman can not be safe anymore at the streets at night.this will be happening when the immigrants are coming to hungarian. Victor orban.this is a man with a great.caracter.he has the balls so we said.to lead Hungarian, so let him stay there..and peter magyar.he tells also a lott of lies..
