PHOTOS, VIDEO: Beautiful ice rink to open in Budapest next week
Jégvilág (Ice World) will open in Budapest Park on 1 December. The astonishing ice skating rink will be bigger than last year, and Budapest Park prepares with novelties for tourists and locals alike.
Budapest is world-famous for its beautiful buildings, the embankments of the Danube, and the many bridges spanning the magnificent river. Furthermore, tourists like to visit the Hungarian capital for its pubs, restaurants and clubs providing quality entertainment for competitive prices. Others travel to Budapest to visit the famous baths and pools, giving an excellent leisure activity even during winter.
Budapest’s ice skating rinks are also very popular among tourists and locals. The ice skating rink in Budapest’s City Park, located in front of the Vajdahunyad Castle, was chosen as one of the world’s best outdoor rinks by The Travel magazine lately.
On 1 December, another outdoor ice rink will open its doors for skaters. The Ice World (Jégvilág) is in the 9th district and was created with the cooperation of the local government and Budapest Park, one of Budapest’s most famous outdoor concert venues.
The ice rink will be open until 31 January and awaits visitors with an ice field of over 1,500 square metres. There will be an ice passage, traditional Hungarian winter foods and drinks, for example pálinka and mulled wine. Furthermore, the music repertoire is new, and organisers prepare with brand new lighting.
Families with children will have a discount, and the ice rink is free for children under 6. In the Retrokert (Retro Garden), there is a kids’ corner, but visitors can use the heated diaper changing rooms. Those who forget their skates at home can borrow them on the spot. Moreover, beginners can borrow a penguin.
There will be PöttömParty for the kids, while the braver children can even skate with Santa Claus. In the evenings, an ice disco will open.
