PHOTOS: This Budapest bridge transforms into the country’s tallest Christmas tree
The Megyeri Bridge, adorned with festive lights since the first Sunday of Advent, now stands as the country’s tallest Christmas tree with 35 storeys, as announced by Magyar Közút Nonprofit Ltd on Monday. Delightfully, lace ornaments and vibrant colours have enhanced its charm since 17 December.
In 2021, Magyar Közút initially transformed the Pest pylon of the Megyeri Bridge near Budapest into a majestic 100-metre Christmas tree. Last year, both pylons underwent a stunning transformation, and this year, they’ve introduced several novel enhancements, as outlined in the statement.
The enchanting festive illuminations will grace the bridge from 3 to 31 December, casting a green glow from dusk until dawn daily. From 17 December onwards, additional decorations have been added to make the bridge even more vibrant.
A yellow top decoration has been added to both piles, while 12 special robot lamps will be used to place special decorative lights on the central glassy segment of the Buda and Pest piles.
This captivating lighting spectacle will be visible until 27 December, from dusk until midnight each day. Following that, the bridge will revert to its basic green illumination until 31 December, as stated in the announcement.
