Places to spend New Year’s Eve in Budapest – Part 2
Even though it feels like 2021 has just started, the end of the year is quickly approaching. Last year, we had to have a very moderate New Year’s Eve celebration due to the pandemic. Now, it seems like things are loosening up in spite of the virus still being present.
Following our previous article which contained recommendations for a New Year’s Eve celebration, here are some more suggestions for you – just to make sure you do not miss out on exciting things that might interest you. If you still do not know where to spend New Year’s Eve, but you do not want to stay home, keep on reading.
1. New Year’s Eve in Rudas – for the first time!
If you are keen on spending long hours in a hot spa, this is your place. This time, instead of closing on December 31, Rudas Bath is hosting a New Year’s Eve pool party. Honouring the spa’s Turkish origins, guests will be able to enjoy the performance of belly dancers three times throughout the night. As for musical performances, Hungarian singer Tibor Kocsis will make sure the atmosphere is as cheerful as it can be during New Year’s Eve. Do not worry, you will not stay hungry either: Rudas Bistro will provide guests with gastronomic masterpieces. However, keep in mind that you can only enter if you can present a vaccination certificate.
2. New Year’s Eve Walk – an alternative programme!
If you like chatting and having a good time, and you also do not mind starting the new year doing some exercise, join the walkers. The goal is to take 31,000 steps on the last day of the year. See the exact time and locations on the cover photo of the Facebook event.
3. Christmas markets at the Basilica
On 31 December, the Christmas Market at St. Stephen’s Basilica will be open from 10 am until 10 pm. During this time, you can try a great variety of local delicacies and drink some aromatic mulled wine. On top of that, between 4:30 pm and 8 pm, those interested can watch the alluring laser show projected onto the walls of the Basilica every half hour.
4. “Pocket Festival” 2.0 – Pre-NYE in the Muzikum Club & Bistro!
Yes, this party is probably as alternative as it sounds. If this is what gets you going, then do not miss out. Guests will be able to enjoy three bands (Jatagán, Dead Maróz, and Cult Devil) on 30 December, after which DJ Gubányipisti will make sure that you never want to go home.
No matter how you decide to spend your New Year’s Eve, make sure you enjoy every second of it. Step into 2022 with a positive mindset and an open heart.
