Plaque unveiled commemorating Victor Vasarely
Budapest, April 9 (MTI) – A plaque commemorating the 110th anniversary of the birthday of Victor Vasarely, the Hungarian-born father of Op-Art, was unveiled at the museum that bears his name in Pécs, southwest Hungary, on Saturday.
The plaque was unveiled by Pécs mayor Zsolt Páva and Pierre Vasarely, the artist’s grandson.
Vasarely was born Győző Vásárhelyi in Pécs in 1906. He died in France in 1997.
The Vasarely Museum in Pécs draws about 30,000 visitors a year.
