PM Orbán meets US geopolitical analyst Friedman
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met Hungarian-born US geopolitical strategist George Friedman in his office in Budapest on Monday.
At the meeting, Friedman presented his latest book, The Storm Before the Calm published in Hungarian by MCC Press. They discussed the protracted war in Ukraine and the latest stages of the deep economic crisis triggered by the war, he said.
George Friedman was born in Budapest to Jewish parents in 1949. His family emigrated first to Austria and then to the United States, fleeing the Communist regime. Friedman has served as a consultant to numerous military and government agencies around the world. From 1996 to 2015, he was president of Stratfor, the private intelligence firm and geopolitical think tank he founded. Since leaving Stratfor, he has been running Geopolitical Futures, a similarly profiled analytical portal he co-founded. His work has been translated into more than 20 languages and several books are available in Hungarian.
The meeting was attended by János Csák, the minister of culture and innovation, and Balázs Orbán, the prime minister’s political director.
