Popular Polish e-moped sharing service leaves Budapest
They shared the disappointing announcement on their official Facebook page, saying they lacked several conditions to continue their e-moped sharing service in the Hungarian capital. However, blinkee did not share any details about the problems.
According to their Friday Facebook post, blinkee.city, a Polish e-moped sharing service, is to leave Budapest. “We are genuinely sorry that we had to post this bad news at the beginning of spring, but not all conditions were ensured to continue our service”, they added.
However, they would not like to say goodbye to all of their enthusiastic users. You will be able to rent their scooters in an individual vehicle rental construction. Moreover, you can also buy them with a pre-season discount.
You can write them concerning the afore-mentioned issues at contact@blinkee.hu or call their customer service line at 06 30 173 1090.
All commenters were sad to hear about blinkee’s departure from the Hungarian capital. Most wrote it was the downtown’s sole good “public transport” option.
Budapest loses blinkee, but e-mopeds will remain in CEE countries
Three Polish gentlemen began the blinkee.city, all graduated from the Military Academy of Technology in Warsaw. They even lived in the same dorm.
When they started the business, Polish people were shocked. They said, “electric mopeds for minutes in Poland!? Not in our climate! This isn’t Rome.”
“What if everyone could rent a moped and go wherever he wanted? I thought that this kind of idea would make a business for us,” Marcin, one of the founders, reminisced. The business started to flourish without a sponsor to remain independent. They launched the service in Warsaw in 2017.
According to 444. hu, they expanded the business to Budapest in the spring of 2018. Later, they “conquered” Pécs. As a result, their flee exceeded 250 mopeds. Blinkee provides service in Slovakia, Romania, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Spain, and Sweden. Users can select their moped in the app, paying a minute-based fare.
