Possibility of terrorist act cannot be excluded in Hungary, says army official
Budapest, December 9 (MTI) – Many Islamic State fighters are returning to Europe, so the possibility of a terrorist atrocity in Hungary cannot be excluded, the head of research at the Hungarian army’s general staff told Wednesday’s daily Magyar Idok.
Janos Besenyo said that creating a large caliphate has been among the goals of the terrorist organisation ever since it was set up, and the maps of this caliphate also include Hungary.
Many of the people who went from Europe to Syria to help the fight of the Islamic State are now returning and European intelligence agencies are working hard to track them down, he said.
Information shows that the organisation is trying to create a state with social services and it promises stability in the territories it occupies, Besenyo said.
