The Tokyo Olympic Games have officially started, and in just a few days, we’ve seen some record-breaking action in many sports. There are 205 countries participating in this year’s Olympics and already some of the underdogs surprised used in multiple categories.
Hungary first participated in the Olympic Games in 1896, and since then, they have participated in most Summer Olympic Games, and in every Winter Olympic Games.
Over the years, Hungary managed to win 503 medals (Gold-178, Silver-150, Bronze-175) spread across 492 athletes.
But what about this year’s Olympics? Will Hungary manage to win a medal?
Well, we decided to highlight some of the athletes that have the biggest chance of winning a medal.
Medal Prediction
There are many organizations that work to predict the outcome of this year’s Olympic Games by analyzing data. One of such companies is Gracenote Sports’ which came out with a prediction for every country that is participating in this event.
According to their data, they predict that Hungarian athletes will manage to win 28 medals, or 7 gold, 8 silver, and 13 bronze at this year’s Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Judging from their data, Hungary will take 11th place in this championship for most won medals, which we still have to wait and see if this prediction will be accurate.
Other companies are also analyzing data from the Olympic games and coming out with their own prediction.
According to Associated Press (AP), Hungary will manage to win only 22 medals or 9 gold, 5 silver, and 8 bronze. They even went through the trouble of highlighting the athletes who have the best chance of winning a medal.
According to their analytics, Tamás Lőrincz (Wrestling), Ádám Marosi (pentathlon, men’s signles), Bálint Kopasz (Kayak-1 1000m), István Péni (shooting, small rifle), István Péni and Eszter Mészáros (sport shooting, with mixed air rifle), Kristóf Milák (swimming, 200m butterfly), Áron Szilágyi (fencing) have the best chance of climbing the top stair of the podium.
We have more predictions coming from Olympicsmedalspredictions.com, which predicts that Hungary will manage to win only 16 medals climbing to tenth place on the medal table.
It seems like the predictions for Hungary medals decrease with every new prediction, but this is only a prediction based on previous results, athlete’s form, and analyzing the competition. It might have a much different outcome.
They predict that Hungary will secure 8 gold medals, 5 silver, and 3 bronze, and similarly to the AP prediction, they expect the shiniest medals to fall down to Milák, Kopasz and Tamás Lőrincz, as well as Boglárka Kapás for women’s kayak four 500m.
We even have Betsports coming with their medal prediction for this year’s Olympic Games in Tokyo and they share similar views with OlympicMedalPredictions.
According to Betsports, Hungary will manage to win 16 medals or 8 gold, 6 silver, and 2 bronze, but they have a different opinion on the final medal table, where they expect Hungary to come at 12th place.
Most of these companies have the same athletes in mind when it comes to winning medals, and the only difference is that some of them expect athletes to win multiple medals at this year’s competition.
Until now, Hungary is in 13th place for most medals won with only 5 and we are in the middle of the championship. They managed to secure 2 Gold medals, 1 silver, and 2 bronze.
We just have to wait and see how things will turn in the next couple of days, but we definitely expect at least 10 medals for the Hungarian athletes. It seems like they have well-prepared athletes for this year’s Olympic Games, just like the top 10 NFL linebackers of all time.
With that said, we just have to wait and see if the Hungarian athletes write history on this year’s Olympic Games.
