Records can be broken at the 17th FINA Masters World Championships

The number of registered participants for the 17th FINA Masters World Championships exceeded the 12 thousand. Given these facts, chance is high that Masters World Championships, organized in Budapest and Balatonfüred, will be a championship of the highest number of participants ever in the history of the Masters.

The first Masters Championships was organized in1986 for retired sport stars and amateurs. From the event organized those days- only with swimming races- a real tradition formed and from the year of 1990 all disciplines became part of the program.

The number of the registered participants in the five sports was the highest in 2012 in the past 30 years in Riccione, Italy, when 12.410 people took part in the World Championships, following the Elite World Championships.

However, the number of registered participant reached 12.000 today; we have all reasons to hope for the best of breaking the record of Riccione.

The number of competitors, coaches and attendants could increase further, as the registration for the 17th FINA Masters World Championships ends only at midnight 29 June. Because of the great interest shown in certain races their registration period has been closed: in water polo and synchronized swimming no more registration is possible as those reached their maximum.
