New regional e-vignette covers all toll roads in 4 Hungarian counties!

The M1 regional e-vignette is available to all motorists and is valid on all toll roads across the four counties affected by the M1 motorway, Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. has announced in a statement sent to MTI on Thursday.

Who should consider the new M1 regional e-vignette?

According to Magyar Közút, drivers who last year purchased at least two county e-vignettes for the four affected counties — Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron — should seriously consider switching to the new M1 regional e-vignette in 2025.

Bartal Tamás, Chairman of the Board of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt., explained that in 2025:

  • 288,000 vehicles purchased two county e-vignettes covering these regions,
  • an additional 23,000 vehicles bought a third,
  • while 33,000 vehicles paid for all four county e-vignettes.

In these cases, the new M1 regional e-vignette offers a far more cost-effective solution, allowing access to the entire toll road network of all four counties at half the price.

Same coverage, significantly lower cost

The validity area of the M1 regional e-vignette is identical to that of the four individual county e-vignettes. This means the new vignette can be used not only on the M1 motorway, but across the entire toll road network of Pest, Fejér, Komárom-Esztergom and Győr-Moson-Sopron counties.

A detailed map showing the coverage area of the M1 regional e-vignette is available on the nemzetiutdij.hu website under the Maps section.

How much can drivers save?

A single county e-vignette for a D1 category vehicle costs HUF 7,190 (EUR 19). Purchasing vignettes for all four counties, therefore, totals HUF 28,760 (EUR 75).

By contrast, drivers can use the same toll road network with the M1 regional e-vignette for just HUF 15,000 (EUR 40), representing a substantial saving.

Strong demand since launch

Data from Magyar Közút’s toll division shows that by 21 January, approximately 64,000 M1 regional e-vignettes had already been purchased.

  • 94% were bought for Hungarian-registered vehicles,
  • 95% were purchased for D1 category vehicles.

Of these, more than 9,500 vignettes were sold during the pre-purchase period in December, while around 54,000 were bought in January.
