Romanian airline changes airport, Budapest flights concerned
Romania’s Air Connect has announced that it will transfer all its Bucharest flights from Otopeni to the Romanian capital’s secondary airport, Băneasa – Aurel Vlaicu International Airport, from 24 July.
Airport change, more frequent flights
As AIRportal.hu reports, according to Air Connect’s booking system, the last flight between Bucharest and Budapest, which operates twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays, will fly to the Bucharest Henri Coandă (Otopeni) International Airport airport on 21 July.
As of Tuesday, 25 July, Air Connect will connect Budapest to Băneasa (BBU), three times a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, and on Sundays.
What is more, from the beginning of October, the company will have four weekly flights to Budapest.
According to Budflyer, an aviation news blog, the offer will be extended to 4 flights from 7 October:
Faster check-in and boarding, closer to the city centre
The airline’s announcement on the airport change highlights that the arrival and departure times of flights will remain unchanged. They add that the newest terminal in Băneasa will be used, with faster check-in, security screening and boarding compared to Otopeni, and the secondary airport is closer to the city centre.
The airline operates its flights to Budapest with its own ATR 72-600 aircraft, as well as with aircraft chartered with crew.
You can still reach Bucharest Otopeni International Airport from Budapest with Romanian carrier Tarom.
As we reported before, a new direct flight will connect the Hungarian capital with a Middle Eastern city soon.
