Ryanair cuts flights: cancellation starts from end-October

Do you have a Ryanair ticket for this autumn? You may get some bad news in email soon.

According to portfolio.hu, Ryanair needs to cancel several flights in its winter timetable due to a delay in Boeing’s delivery of new planes. The Irish low-cost airline will inform passengers about such delays by email.

Europe’s biggest airlines by passenger numbers announced the bad news on Thursday. It blamed the flight closures on a significant delay in the delivery of Boeing aircraft. The carrier planned to receive 27 jets between September and December but expect only 14 now.

The company warned that flight cancellations will start in October. CEO Michael O’Leary remained optimistic concerning their 183.5 million passenger aim and the 57 aircraft they ordered for May 2024. However, he said that provided the delay extended to next year, they would have to modify their targets. The aforementioned number is an already decreased one since they needed to do so due to the strikes and delays this January. The original number was 185 million.

Based on portfolio.hu, the cancellations will not affect Budapest flights. They will concern Charleroi, Dublin, Bergamo, Napoli, Pisa, East Midlands, Porto and Köln.
