Ryanair launches Easter Sale from Budapest offering extra cheap tickets in April

Ryanair, the Irish low-cost airline, launched its Easter Sale from Budapest Airport with extra cheap tickets to two European destinations, one of which is on the Adriatic seaside. The special offer kicked off today but will end tomorrow at midnight, so you have to be very quick to grab a low-cost ticket from Budapest.

Ryanair launches Easter Sale to Trieste, Sofia from Budapest

Ryanair kicked off this morning its so-called “Easter Sale“, offering flights for approximately EUR 20. The sale allows travellers from Hungary to fly from Budapest Airport to Trieste, Italy, or Sofia, Bulgaria, for an affordable price in April. The approximate cost is EUR 20, but if you check out Ryanair’s website, you will find cheaper as well as more expensive tickets. The Irish budget airline believes that the fares are comparable to the cost of a luxury Easter egg.

Based on their announcement, the sale began today and will end tomorrow at midnight. The number of destinations Ryanair provides cheap tickets to is 230. From Budapest, the airline included two destinations in this special offer: Trieste and Sofia.

Trieste, the pearl of the Adriatic

Trieste is an ancient Northern Adriatic port city, once belonging to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire’s Austria part. After WWI, it was independent for a short while, then it became part of Italy. The city’s architecture reflects previous influences with Roman ruins like a theatre and archway, alongside Baroque and Neoclassical buildings from later periods. The captivating city is often called “the city of writers” due to its association with notable authors such as Italo Svevo and Umberto Saba. James Joyce also lived in the Italian city for a while, leaving behind a legacy that includes his statue along Ponte Rosso. Travelling to Trieste opens up further options to Slovenia and Croatia’s Istria peninsula region.

Sofia, the 7,000-year-old city

Sofia is the capital and the largest city of Bulgaria. Its rich history dates back to 7,000 BC and was known as Serdica in Roman times. Sofia was part of various empires throughout history, including the Roman Empire, Byzantine Empire, Bulgarian Empire (twice), and Ottoman Empire before becoming part of modern-day Bulgaria in 1878. All those eras have a heritage in the city’s architecture, culture, population, religions, etc.

Cheap April flights

The flight frequency to Trieste is much lower than to Sofia from Budapest. Flights commute twice a week, on Monday and Friday. Tickets are quite cheap now, less than EUR 15. To Sofia, you can travel twice a day from Monday to Sunday, but the Easter Sale prices are higher than to Trieste. Prices vary between ~EUR 20 and ~EUR 70.

Ryanair’s Head of Communications, Jade Kirwan, encourages swapping traditional chocolate treats for memorable travel experiences during this limited-time offer available on ryanair.com until midnight on 23 February.
